Oh neat! This is the first I've heard of the Garcarians.

Is there a Captain's Log article on them?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, June 27, 2020 - 07:11 pm: Edit

Soon ... soon

By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Saturday, June 27, 2020 - 11:53 pm: Edit

I hope this leads to an R module. I will not post further ideas.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, June 28, 2020 - 12:57 am: Edit

Why not? I don’t want to think I’ll of your. Previous participation.

By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Sunday, June 28, 2020 - 01:34 am: Edit

It has to do with me. I have had some developing health issues over the past few weeks that are partly showing up as increased anxiety and depression. It is called de-compensation.

I need to take a break to get myself back to a better place were my perceptions are based on cognitive observation not anxiety. I am sorry for how the post may have affected you. It was the best I could do with were I am at.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, June 28, 2020 - 02:08 am: Edit

Yeah, my pain isn't helping me be myself, either.

By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Sunday, June 28, 2020 - 02:44 am: Edit

I understand. Make sure you do move your shoulder joint. If you don't it can lead to a frozen shoulder. Also using ice packs can reduce the chronic pain.

Here to looking forward to better days. Both of us will make it.

Look forward to seeing your posts in the future Joe. You listen to feedback pretty well imo.

Module E4 has 70 SSDs, Module E3 75. I don't know what else could be included in them some other than odd variants and such that would be interesting enough to buy again. Adding another empire would make this a massive module.

YES, 145 SSDs IS ALREADY ABOUT AS BIG AS I WANT IT TO BE. WE COULD TURN THOSE TWO INTO A C-MODULE ANY TIME BUT I WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE POINTLESS TO DO SO.

For an R-module, I would like to see light battleships (between a real BB and a DNH, move cost 1.75, 8 heavy weapons) in addition to the "fast" raiding battleships.

SVC THINKS THAT IS WORTH LOOKING AT.

What I would really like to see is a Xorkaelian preview module like the Nicozian one, with the General War era CA, CL, DD, and FF. This has the benefits of:

1. No counters required.
2. Brings them into the universe after 25 years.
3. Adds something fresh.
4. Sets up a future Module X2 by introducting the main adversary while preserving their X-tech for X2.
Make it happen SVC, please.

SVC THINKS THIS IS A WORTHY CANDIDATE FOR WHAT HE MIGHT DO AFTER CL54. BUT THERE ARE ABOUT TEN CANDIDATES ON THAT LIST.

By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Sunday, June 28, 2020 - 12:05 pm: Edit

Thank you Richard.

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Monday, June 29, 2020 - 11:03 am: Edit

I like the Xork preview module. I would definitely buy and use it. It also helps build momentum towards a fully developed empire module, and ultimately X2.

SVC, for what it's worth, my opinion is that you should simply ignore all input on X-2, or maybe just glance at and pick out whatever small amount might be ideas worth developing and just trash the rest without worrying about it. Don't let a few armchair quarterbacks on the BBS get under your skin!

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, June 29, 2020 - 02:36 pm: Edit

I dunno, I was thinking a Garcarian preview. They have two weapons, the flamer and the blaster.

By Shawn Gordon (Avrolancaster) on Monday, June 29, 2020 - 02:58 pm: Edit

So, there's the potential for a new C module, but there might be too many SSDs (potentially) to fit it all in.

And there's a potential for a new R module, but there might not be enough content for it.

What if C7: Failed States had the core ships for the four empires (Borak, Peladine, Nicozia, Garcaria) and the stuff that doesn't fit in there (class variants, etc) goes to finish off R13?

By Mike Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Monday, June 29, 2020 - 07:06 pm: Edit

Because we are all hungry for you to make stuff for us to buy.

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Monday, June 29, 2020 - 07:26 pm: Edit

I would like to see a playtest Tournament ships Module with Empires that don't have Tournament ships.

By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 - 08:21 pm: Edit

That might be more a Captain's Log entry (or three) than a module...

By Stephen E Parrish (Steveparrish) on Friday, July 10, 2020 - 05:43 pm: Edit

Reading the above, I have a couple of comments. First, counters are nice but they are not necessary. I have hundreds of counters that I have not used and will probably never use.

As to what should be published next, I would prefer the Failed States--that would give us a lot of variety. The Nicos especially are an interesting race. Close to that would be general war compatible Xorks. We have been waiting a very long time for the Xorks, and if we can't have them till X2 is done, I might be senile when they finally come out. (If I'm not already.)

I would love for the Omega and LMG projects to be finished, but given the lack of high sales, perhaps they could dribble in with Captain's Logs. That is better than nothing.

Just my 2 cents.

So.

In the hope to continue the conversation, what ideas are still on the list for the next R module?

Earlier, SVC posted a comment in response to the Flower class corvettes for the Federation.

(It was “the flowers will bloom” thingy.)

What else hasn’t been shot down, shredded and burned?

The “fighters that never were” might make an interesting Captains Log article, but likely will not add any new rules, and if published, probably need only a page.

There are various lists hidden in various topics of rules that might be added in the next module. Varys between 6 to 12, depending on who posted it. Every thing frm new hardware (improved anti drone drones (ADD)) to new terrain (prairie dog space). Was there any thing missing that should be on the list?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 04:04 am: Edit

The next module will be MODULE R4T: MORE THOLIANS THAN YOU CAN KILL IN A WEEK.

The one after that will be SHADOW OF THE EAGLE, the alternative history Romulans who figured out warp power.

At least one of those (R4T) this year, both within a year.

MODULE R14 DOUBLE SECRET SHIPS will be along after that.

By Shawn Gordon (Avrolancaster) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 09:59 am: Edit

As a fan of Tholians and Romulans my appetite fully is whetted.

Does this mean that you've solved the counters-on-demand problem or are these going to be counterless?

By Remco Mul (Remco) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 09:59 am: Edit

Thanks for sharing. A lot of new products for SFB on the horizon. Exciting!

By Richard Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 11:10 am: Edit

I lol'd.

By Steven Pow Jr (Asmoridin) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 12:35 pm: Edit

A new module about Tugs? Could include a Tug campaign and a new monster (the Tuggernaut)? Hypothetical Tugs. The possibilities are endless!

And no need for more counters- who needs more Tug counters?

By Steven Pow Jr (Asmoridin) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 12:37 pm: Edit

Man, it's boring even reading that as a module idea.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - 04:29 pm: Edit

I am working on the counter issue and may have found a solution. I am waiting for an answer.
