Can my proposal for a Rom conversion of a D4 to a RD4V be considered please? It's a pretty neat little ship and I think the conversion should be straightforward. And it gives the Roms a way to use those few D4s in a different way.

I dunno...
A determined man can kill a lot of Tholians in a week.
Tholians don’t tend to run away like Orions. They tend to fort up.
If SVC follows thru with his threat to publish stackable Tholian pin wheels, the number of dead Tholians will climb precipitously. After all, pin wheels are tactical innovation, not a huge permanent base. That means no mine fields. Nor hanger pods for fighters or PFT pods.
Lots of opportunity to kill Tholians.

Tholian cargo packs converted to carry fighters for the double or triple pinwheel stacks...
Or just include a PCV/BW or a DDV.
This is not a topic for any specific ship, but I think that Rom D4 thing could theoretically fit in R14 if the ship is approved.

Pinwheel stacks of CWXs...

R14? Does that mean R13 is ready to go?

I for see a certain amount of loneliness in Alan Trevors future.
With Stackable pin wheels and Tholian cargo packs adding a significant number of fighters, NOBODY will want to play against his favorite empire.
Kind of reminds me of the Maytag repair man commercials from the 1970s. Loneliest guy in town.

The Seltorians would be glad to play.

I thought we did R13 years ago. Did I miscount?

R12: Unusual Ships is the most recent R module.
And, in my opinion, one of the best ones.

There was a joke posted some years ago about "Module R13: The Ships Rejected by ADB"
Still, if R13 is never done but y'all go on to R14, that's okay too...

I sincerely hope this gets done, and gets done in a big way. Been ~10 years since R12 if I'm not mistaken. Modules and even Captain's Log have slowed to a creep.

yeah. But now that SVC is back to streamlined status, all kinds of stuff can get done...

I got STAR FLEET MARINES COUNTER-ATTACK finished today. Petrick wants me to do art for MODULE J RULEBOOK UPDATE and for THOLIAN MASTER STARSHIP BOOK. I hope to have a solution this week to counters that would not force us to do counter-less products. It is not up to me if it will work, so stay strong.
By Shawn Gordon (Avrolancaster) on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 - 10:29 am: Edit |
Fingers crossed on the counters.
If the counters can be print to order, and the rulebooks are already print to order, what that means is that basically ADB can work on whatever it wants for SFB without having to worry about betting on a product that won't sell.
If solved we could have a sort of renaissance.
By Matthew Cicero (Maldus) on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 - 04:26 pm: Edit |
I agree. Would be very excited about making ADB's life easier. Hoping it all works out!
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 - 05:17 pm: Edit |
So far print to order isn't happening. The print on demand places don't do half inch counters or don't do them anything like economically. I am still waiting for SuperiorPod to get back to me with their analysis of the die pattern I sent them (220 per sheet, their machine cannot cut more than that).
I may have found a place that will let me print smaller quantities of SFB sheets ganged into the same run with vast quantities of F&E sheets. SFB players don't really need counters; F&E players never have enough.
By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 - 11:35 pm: Edit |
Ooookaaayy... This is probably a REAL dumb idea for counters, but I'm tossing it out there anyhow.
Y'all have the light, glossy cardboard that you use for jackets for modules. Could something like that be used for counters? The sheets would need to be scissored apart, but I think* it still might be a way of getting some counters in products.
(* "Think?" Me? Surely not... )
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 12:08 am: Edit |
Thin cardstock counters are not what players want, but we have done them now and then in special projects, which is how we know players aren't going to be satisfied.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 12:09 am: Edit |
Now, here is one from left field.
What if we did a sheet of counters that had R4T on the front and Shadow of the Eagle on the back? We could then use the same sheet in both products.
Then in the case of R13, we could put the top half of the sheet on the back of the bottom half, with different unit numbers, so you could have twice as many of the Fed BBL if you wanted.
Production and money wise it's a great idea. But would it be too freaking weird?
By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 12:00 pm: Edit |
It is with a heavy heart that I have to point out one possible problem.
SOMEbody will be a twit about it and propose a scenario featuring ships that are featured on opposite sides of some of these specific counters.
By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 01:07 pm: Edit |
It is great news.
The solution is to buy a second counter sheet!
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 05:07 pm: Edit |
I don't think it's a problem, Jeff.
Let's say that the Tholian PDWG is on the back of the Romulan WarHawk-M. The two ships are in different products and each product came with the same counters, so you have two PDWG/WHM counters anyway.
The problem is when the cat walks across the map and some of the ships change sides.
By A David Merritt (Adm) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 09:32 pm: Edit |
As someone who sorts counters by Empire, I would prefer not have mixed empire counters. If we do, could they not have the same base color. i.e. Tholians on one side, and Romulans on the other.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - 10:58 pm: Edit |
But those are the two products we are doing.
