Here's another idea a race of living meachines like the one from star trek the motion picture no one knows who or what built them but they are hunted by other races for there advanced tec or the metal there made out of. These different meachines have different weapons. they are hunted like whales.

I'd buy a monster manual S3 book. I would assume that getting playtest reports for solo senarios would be easier than multi player ones, so this book might be less work than the other two.
