Crazy idea. 11x17 fleet chart for a race, with the original and extra fleets, plus the depot chart and maybe other things (raid pool?). Possibly in color.

Would this be an add-on for Strategic-Ops, or a separate product?
I like the idea, but would have trouble finding the space for these. Already I cannot really set up F&E except on cyberboard.

I'll buy em.

SVC: Did you see the way that Chuck made the fleet charts at Origins? He placed four fleets on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet with the battle board in the middle meaning instead of having to move the counters off the fleet chart to the battle board (on another sheet somewhere else), you could just slide them from the fleet box to the battle board area. I think placing the battle board on this 11x17 chart would be excellent.

I am in. Add these to my LSM and we have a deluxe package order...
WOOO HOOO!!!

I'm with Scott - adding a battle board would enhance the overall product.
It probably would only get used when I finally move to a house with a basement (who know when that would be ?), but I'd certainly be interested.

Steve, just an idea, I have made similiar large format fleet charts for my game, but instead of making all boxes equal, I have the first row of boxes about double sized and the the rest smaller, this allows for the large initial setups (the original fleets are the big boxes) and then once things start moving around smaller taskforces can go in the little boxes. When I get home on Sunday I'll email you a proof of one of them.

How about something with a bit more pop?

Here's a thought about the Kzinti, Romulan, Gorn, and Lyran 17" charts. They have only 12 fleet counters (currently) so do they need 4 more added in Nebulous Ops which would mean we could add them to the chart?
By Scott Tenhoff (Scottt) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 02:13 pm: Edit |
I thought Nebulous Ops was going to be printed in the Far-Far future.
So is that bumping 11x17 fleet charts to the far-far future.

I like the concept. Any chance that some of the graphics could be improved? The ships and some of the logos look fine but the weapons on the flags are not as well done. I'd like to see the details improved if possible but I don't know if you have a computer graphic artist who'd be willing to do it.
By John Doucette (Jkd) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 02:53 pm: Edit |
Sweet. Yes, this is a lovely idea. Now I won't have to take over the eniter basement
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 03:19 pm: Edit |
I don't think we'd have to delay these at all as long as you're willing to make your own counters for the new fleets. But the question remains whether the gorns actually operate 12 fleets let alone 16.
KC; leave it to you. The graphics are what I do, the way I do them. I'm an engineer, not an artist. If you don't like them, send me better ones without expecting to get paid.

well, that file is really cool but at 13.4 megs I don't think I'll be uploading it.
By KC Grant (Kcg) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 04:13 pm: Edit |
Steve,
I don't understand -- you asked: "How about something with a bit more pop?" I said I liked the concept and gave you honest feedback no what I thought would give these charts more "pop" (I'd also be interested in spending money to buy them -- even more so if the graphics where outstanding). It was not intended to be any kind of personal criticism and I'm sorry that you may have taken it that way.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 04:15 pm: Edit |
KC: What I said was that the chart I was posting had more pop than the first one. Only you could have read it as "tell me how to change this so it's better since I'm stupid and don't know how".
By KC Grant (Kcg) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 04:32 pm: Edit |
Why are you taking this personal and implying that somehow that I think your "stupid and don't know how"? I don't think that and I was only trying to be constructive in that this would be a nice product but with some slight improvements it could be even better. (BTW, I had NO idea that you even did the graphics for these.) Knowing this, I'll better measure my comments in the future.
By Loren Knight (Loren) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 04:53 pm: Edit |
KC: Your wording (which is all there is to go on) did sound that way. When I read it I said to myself "Whoa, man, that's harsh."

SVC. I'm in for a full set - whenever they hit the cart. Just letme know.

I'd buy it
By Steven Rossi (Steverossi) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 06:11 pm: Edit |
These look great. I am also liking the idea of putting them together with the big map for a "Doomsday" F&E set. Yes sir, I do.
By Daniel G. Knipfer (Dgknipfer) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 06:36 pm: Edit |
I like them. But I also liked the charts Chuck had at Origins that had a Battle Chart on each sheet. Though I don't know how you'll fit all the Fed fleets & the depot info & a battle chart (same for the Klingons). The other races could easily add a battle chart if you didn't add extra fleets.
I think I'd prefer keeping 8.5x11 charts because it's easier to get them mounted on thick cardboard. Now if you can mount them on some really thick cardboard...
By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 06:40 pm: Edit |
I'd like to see the scenario setup charts (such as half the FO rulebook) done up on 11x17 cardstock. Is that something that could be done as a special order??????

Garth: Not really all that hard. Let's see. It's 6:12 pm. Time me.
