I assume that a burn through on shields does not count as internal damage for this award. Otherwise this is a cheap score, IMO. I would think internals means getting the shields down and scoring at least one internal.

I would also assume that the award is given if you score an internal after someone else brings the shield down but scores no internals, or if the opponent has dropped a shield.

In the last case, if he drops a shield for whatever reason, and I hit and run him, disabling an internal, do I get the reward?

Internal damage is internal damage whether via burnthrough or not, and irrespective of why the shields were down (or not). H&R also is irrelvant, if the target has internal damage he has internal damage. Ditto for things like orion engine damage and Andro panel cascade, it all counts for victory purposes barring some scenario special rule.

Personally I wouldn't want to start tracking how I took certain damage - that warp was burnthrough and that phaser was H&R and I'm repairing this system that you would otherwise have scored points for. Oh and you would have crippled me except for that first point of burnthrough, so that doesn't count. No thanks, keep it simple.

Self-inflicted damage from Orion engine doubling is also counted.

Mmm - This did make me reread the victory section, and note the non-allied players rule, so a related question:

How do you decide which players damage got repaired for the purposes of the 'ignore repaired boxes' bit? Does the repairing ship have to declare that he repaired the warp box hit by player X, and do you have to track that player X even scored a warp hit in the first place! Seems a bit complex (to much bookkeeping) to me.

I've always thought that too. Basically I just give the points (it is only 10%, after all) to any player who scored damage. If it's a self-inflicted point (like Orion hyped engine damage) then again both enemy ships get the points. He doubled the engines because of the presence of both ships, after all!

I don't think that was the intent. Counting the damage is just there to determine a ratio; repairs don't really come into that part of the victory score determination. Whether a given box is repaired or not, each ship scored their counted share of internal damage.

Here is an example:
This is a three way fight. At the end of the fight, Ship A did 1 point of internal damage to Ship C, and Ship B did 9 points of internal damage to Ship C. Before the game ended, Ship C manged to repair one box. No other damage was done to Ship C. So, that means a total of 10 points of damage were done to Ship C. Dividing it up, Ship A gets 1/10 of the victory points scored for damaging Ship C, and Ship B gets 9/10 of the victory points scored for damaging Ship C.

Note that, in this equation, the one repaired box is irrelevant. All that matters is the number of points of internal damage each ship did to Ship C.

The only time repaired boxes comes into play is if the repaired boxes make Ship C go from being "crippled" (which would have scored 50% of its Point Value) to merely being "damaged" (which only score 10% of its Point Value). Repaired boxes have nothing to with determining how much of those points go to which participant.
