Look forward to everything that comes into FC -- but always enjoyed the Andros when I had people to play against ---

No question in my mind...the Vudar. Why? Because I'm tired of waiting for the minis.

Can the Staff tell us which way the decision for the PPD damage rule went - was it one damage lump all in one go, or was it several pulses?

One lump. (Well, three, actually. But the pulses are all combined.)

The PPD, Ion Cannon, and IPG rules in the Reference Rulebook are all unchanged in the operation. There were some changes for clarity and organization, but the actual function was not changed.

If I havne't posted the Vudar minis photos on Discus I will momentarily. (I have to go check and see if I have yet before I duplicate it.) Then somebody can copy them over here or link to them.

The Vudar miniatures can be found on the Miniatures Updates topic on the Discus form.

The PPD has a myopic zone.

So do I.

I bought the FC-RRB as soon as it became available, and I never even noticed that the PPD was in there.

Duh. Anyway, thanks for the answer, Mike. :)

I'm not sure which is more surprising so far - seeing the Andros so far ahead, or not seeing the ISC do better than they are.

Oh well.

(It would be interesting to run a similar poll a few month after the module is out, to get feedback on how the three factions are being enjoyed on the tabletop...)

I'm looking at the Andros, the ISC and the Vudar as opponents, rather than to play myself.

My experience with SFB was that fighting the Andros gave fun, fast moving and hard-fought games, while taking on the ISC was very nearly as enjoyable as sticking your fingers in the waste-disposal. Yes, they're overwhelmingly powerful, but they have few weaknesses for an opponent to exploit. The PPD seems to have received a boost in FC as well.

Still, I'm glad they are in, just for completeness.

I only played against the Vudar once in SFB, and the lack of an Electronic Warfare element to the IPG will make them work rather differently in FC, I think.

the lack of a WHAT?

(5R4) JAMMING MODE
When used in the Jamming Mode, an ion pulse generator may be used once per impulse, as long as it has power in the capacitor.
(5R4a) Operation: The ion pulse generator is triggered at the end of the Defensive Fire Step and only lasts for the rest of that impulse. [The ion pulse occurs at the end of the impulse before fire. It affects direct fire on the impulse of activation.]
(5R4b) Effect: Each point of power spent through the ion pulse generator produces a shift of +1 under the (4A4) modifiers, up to a maximum of +3. The modifier is cumulative with other modifiers. [Note that (4A4) modifiers are capped at +3. This means that if used at the maximum, the IPG effect will make other modifiers irrelevant for that impulse.] This modifier applies to both the ship with the ion pulse generator, and to anyone firing on the ship.

Oh, I hadn't seen that.

Reading between the lines, is the Jamming mode an alternative to the Drone-and-Stinger killing Defensive mode? So an IPG can't do both at the same time? And it's use has to be declared *before* ships declare weapons fire?

Worth taking a few fighters along, then. 8)

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Assuming something is or isn't there from one snippet is going to get you killed.
