A nugget asks...

Items in the 'Special' box - transporters, tractors, drones et.c. - how are they damaged in combat?

And is there a timescale for Hydran Armada?

Items in the special box cannot be damaged.

Hydrans, dunno. IIRC SVC said at the SFU seminar that the Tholians/Orions are next, then prolly fighters, which may include Hydran Stingers and may be fighters for existing empires.

Thanks.

A couple more;

Movement; do I need to move forward before or between facing changes?

For example, I have a ship with 6 thrust points, which was moving at speed 5 on the prior turn. This ship wishes to make two turns to starboard this game turn; is 'S1S' a legal speed plot?

Similarly, if the ship had been moving at speed 6, would 'S,S' (leaving her at speed 0) be legal?

Drones; am I right in thinking that drones launch, move and attack in the same sequence as fighters? Meaning that if they are launched at range 8 or less there is no defence against them ?(save for counter-launching anti-drones, or a desperate dash to get out of range).

Although fighter interception might be another possibility.

Also, a Kzinti FF has Drones(4). Is there any restriction on launching the lot (16 real missiles) on one turn?

From my understanding your two movement orders are both legal.

Yes drones launch/move like fighters, the restriction to how many you can launch is in the rules and is based on the size of the ship (number of hull boxes)

They can be damaged by using the critical hit rules (rules annex). I never used them and I'm not sure if they have a real impact in the game, but it can be done.

The decision to "exempt" special items from damage was made in the conversion from Starmada X (the previous edition) to the Admiralty Edition. Frankly, I haven't missed it... but as mentioned, there is an optional rule to allow for it.

Hmm, I think we'll stick to the basics for now.

Once they're nailed down, then for 3D! :twisted:
