I am taking a look at this thread again now that the final list has been posted for some time and I want to make a possibly irrelevant comment about the Gorn selections.

The Gorns currently have nothing of value between the CL (122) and the CA (160). I have no idea what are a "Destroyer-Battlecruiser" and "Cruiser-Drednaught", but hopefully whatever they are, at least one hopefully fits in that slot.

The limitations in SFB were inherent to the design. When translating it to FC, it would likely have the following restrictions:
- May not choose a baseline speed of 24.
- May not HET. Ever.

That is in addition to its "E" turn mode.

(The color text implies that there should also be some kind of die roll required to see if it even makes it to the battle in one piece, but no rule is explicitly given.)

Then there is no reason to wait for anything. Get your D7D right now!

And that is the entire reason the Destroyer-Battlecruiser is on the list. (The Cruiser-Dreadnought is just there to keep the DBC company.)

(On a related but unasked point, the ISC, however, are just totally screwed on their Point gap.)

Thanks Mike. I just don't recognize the ships at all. They must have popped up long after I moved to playing tourney-only in SFB. (Or are these new creations exclusively for Fed Com?)

Oh, no. They are very much SFB ships. The first of these ships was the cruiser-dreadnought. It is a way to convert a light cruiser into a dreadnought-class hull by giving it a really honkin' big rear bubble. (Which means this could actually have been driven by the F&E crowd.) The other ships were just obvious derivations on the smaller hulls (i.e. one based on the HDD and another on the DD).

For FC, the destroyer-battlecruiser ship has the happy coincidence of filling that Point Value gap at 145. You can find the SFB version in CL27.

You cannot ask for a ship without convincing me of another ship to delete.

There are 40 ships and that's going to be the most ever in a new product. I pushed that wall as far as I could and when the printing bill arrives I'll probably end up sleeping on the office sofa for a night or two as it is.

Given the number of empires, giving the Klingons three ships is as far as it goes. You cannot delete the police ship or the escort, so the Klingons then get their most requested cool ship and the D7D comes in way behind the F6B. Maybe it gets a card in Reinforcements II, but it was in Communique already.

The DBC is already in the online client (though I can't vouch for it accuracy). It is an odd ship, rather phaser light.

Are there going to be new minis for some of the ships that are different enough to warrant them?

I would imagine, unless you can convince one of the sculptures to come up with one you want, any new 2400s would be rare, at least till the 2500 line is near completion ---

I know at least two of the sculptors would make time, if asked. However, I agree that the resin 2500 series is top priority right now, for all involved.

I second that.

The 2nd sculptor on the list is currently doing ACTA / Starline 2500 work, but would make time for a new 2400 cast if asked.
