FC and the Lesser Magellanic Cloud

Before I started working on the Omega conversion project, I started (off the boards) to work on how to convert the Lesser Magellanic Cloud empires from Module C5 into the Federation Commander game system.

(Actually, I was kind of surprised at how things ended up; I didn't plan on Omega jumping ahead, to the point of it already having a playtest pack and the LMC still in limbo. But anyway.)

I still have a set of work-in-progress set of rules for the LMC ships on file; enough to fill out a second playtest rulebook, if there were ever enough interest for one to be done.

I like to think that the empires of the LMC can provide a new and distinct set of tactical challenges in the Federation Commander game system; both against each other and when faced with the Andromedans (or if contacting the Operation Unity task forces in 2602).

What I wanted to do here was to gauge any potential interest in the LMC as a setting from people other than myself; and, while I'm here, to try and work out how the ships from C5 could be sieved through to end up with a list of 40 ships "just in case". (As with Omega and the Early Years, I am well aware that the demand for such alternate settings may not be enough to make things viable; but I thought it woudn't hurt to do up such a list anyway.)

So, is there anyone here who thinks that seeing the Lesser Magellanic Cloud get fleshed out in FC terms would be a good idea?

As in the Omega and Early Years ship list discussions, I use "M" to mark units to go into the module proper, and "B1", "B2" and "B3" to cover the boosters.

-----

Civilian (6)
Civilian/Military Pinnace - M
Civilian Tug - B3
Small/Large Asteroid Shipyard - M
Mobile Base (B/E) - B3
Base Station (B/E) - M
War Base (B/E) - B3

Baduvai Imperium (9)
Strike Cruiser- M
Heavy Cruiser - B1
Light Cruiser - B1
War Cruiser - M
War Destroyer - M
Bombardment War Destroyer - B1
Destroyer - B1
Improved Frigate - M
War Destroyer Scout - B1

Eneen Protectorates (6)
Heavy Cruiser - M
New Light Cruiser - M
War Destroyer/Plasma War Destroyer - M
Command War Destroyer - B1
Frigate - M
War Destroyer Scout - B1

Maghadim Hives (10)
Battlecruiser- M
Light Cruiser - M
Cruiser - B2
Heavy Destroyer - B2
Destroyer - M
Frigate - M
Heavy Destroyer Scout - B2
Freighter - B3
Mobile Base - B2
Base Station - M

Uthiki Harmony (4)
War Cruiser - B2
Destroyer - M
Frigate - B2
Defence Platform - B2

Jumokian Resistance (5)
Light Cruiser - M
Destroyer - B3
Frigate - B3
New Destroyer - M
Destroyer Scout (with survey Pinnace packs) - B3

Total = 40.

The first booster would be for the Baduvai and Eneen, the second for the Maghadim and Uthiki, and the third for the civilian and Jumokian units.

(The Maghadim Starbase would need a double-sized card, so isn't on the list above.)

All in, that should be enough to give the five LMC forces, as presented in C5, a good start in FC terms; if any newer ships get published for SFB, one or more of them could be subbed in if they are worth more than whatever ship they ended up replacing. (Personally, I'm hoping the Uthiki might get a scout, and the Jumokians a couple more "new" hulls to match the NDD.)
