CONVENTION POLICY
We will send a package of merchandise with a retail value over $100 to managers of conventions in exchange for their running a full-page ad in the on-site program. (A flyer won't do since most players would just throw it away.) Conventions with more than 300 players in attendance (last year) will be sent a large box worth $200. You can download the ad at the link below; send us a UPS-capable address at least two weeks (preferably longer) before your convention. Your convention just has to have gamers; it doesn't have to have events for our products. We cannot provide this support to conventions which support (e.g., schedule events for) unauthorized SFB products (those published illegally by companies other than ADB, Inc.). We also cannot do this for conventions outside of the US (because of the high shipping cost).

TOURNAMENT & JUDGE POLICY
Tournaments may be Sanctioned, Supported, and/or Rated Ace. These terms are independent and not inclusive.
SANCTIONED tournaments are run under the same policy as they have been for a decade. To be sanctioned, you must use the current tournament ships (SSDs are on the web site), tournament rules (Module T2000, available at your local game store or from the shopping cart), and game rules (including all errata from the web site). Anyone who feels confident to run an SFB event is a sanctioned judge unless you have been notified otherwise.
RATED ACE: To be qualified for a Rated Ace card, your tournament must be Sanctioned, must have at least 16 participants (with 32 participants the 1st and 2nd place players get cards) who actually play the game (no "phantom" players are tolerated), must be held at a convention with dealers and multiple events (to attract strong competition), and must determine the winner through three rounds of single-elimination (four rounds if 32 or more participants). (Judges may pick any reasonable means of narrowing down the original field to the eight finalists.) We must have a readable and valid name, address, phone number, and Email address (if there is one) for each of the participants (not just the first 16). The judge must obtain a Rated Ace Nomination form (on the web site or send a stamped self-addressed envelope to ADB, Inc.) and send it, fully completed and with a convention program, to ADB within ten days of the event.
SUPPORTED events have prizes from ADB Inc.; they do not have to be tournaments but could be scenarios, demo-derbies, and other events. If the judge sends $10 to ADB, Inc., we will send him five $5 gift certificates to use as prizes which he can distribute to the winners in any manner he chooses; these can be redeemed for full cash value at the ADB, Inc., mail order department or at our Origins booth. Judges may opt to not send for these prizes and to make other arrangements on their own to provide suitable prizes, but more prizes means more players at your event. Judges may send $20 for ten $5 gift certificates if they wish. The limit, however, is two gift certificate packs ($20 cost, $50 prizes) per convention except in the case of some very large and well established conventions; judges may enquire in advance of ordering certificates if their convention qualifies, but generally speaking you must have had 30 players at the previous running of that convention to qualify.
Support cannot be offered to Judges who run events including unauthorized SFB products (those published by companies other than ADB Inc.). Support cannot be given to judges who do other things that the company considers damaging to its image or which are a disservice to its customers.
Upon completion of the above requirements (and assuming that ADB, Inc., receives no complaints or charges of judicial misconduct) the judge will be mailed a free copy of the next issue of Captain's Log (listing his event).
